H.A.S.T.E (Histology Automation for Swift Tissue Evaluation)
Project #5320
When a doctor needs to take a biopsy, they send a sample of the tissue to a lab to check for diseases like cancer. But the process of preparing and analyzing the tissue can take hours, delaying important results. To help solve this, we built our own machine called H.A.S.T.E. It automatically cuts the tissue into thin sections and takes clear images; tasks that usually take a long time and manual work. We used a special stain called Toluidine blue during the preparation stage, so there's no need to add chemicals later. Once cut, the tissue floats in warm water, and the machine takes high-quality pictures and uploads them to a website for easy viewing. Our invention helps labs work faster, reduces the chance of errors, and makes testing more accessible. Hoping to one day be used in labs around the world.
