Each year, hundreds of millions of tonnes of plastic waste end up in landfills - about the same weight as all humans on the planet. Most recycling programs are ineffective because trash gets mixed with recyclables, making proper sorting difficult and inefficient. This project provides a practical, AI-powered solution that helps communities adapt to climate change by improving waste infrastructure. By reducing human error, this system increases recycling rates, lowers contamination, and decreases the amount of plastic waste sent to landfills - eventually cutting down on greenhouse gas emissions and contributing to long-term climate resilience. In doing so, it promotes sustainability and encourages both individuals and businesses to adopt better recycling habits, helping work towards building a healthier planet for us to live on.
