What is CWSF?

The Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF) is the premier national celebration of youth innovation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Each year, nearly 400 exceptional students in grades 7-12 from across Canada gather for an unforgettable week of discovery, competition, and connection.

What Happens at CWSF?

The week-long event includes:

  • Project presentations and judging by STEM professionals
  • Nearly $1.3 million in awards, scholarships, and prizes
  • Interactive lab experiences at host university facilities
  • Tour day exploring the host city and region
  • Public viewing days where thousands visit to see projects
  • STEM Expo featuring educational institutions and companies
  • Social events and networking opportunities
  • Awards ceremony celebrating top achievements

Beyond Competition

While awards are exciting, CWSF offers something even more valuable: a community of like-minded peers who share your passion for STEM. Many participants describe making lifelong friendships and discovering new possibilities for their futures during this transformative week.
